our story

I began making Olive Oil soaps in 1998 after a conversation with my grandma about how she used to make soap on the farm.  I thought that possibly, I could make soap with vegetable based oils instead of the way she did it with old fashioned lard! So with my husbands daughter, Heids help, The Common Olive was created! I couldn't have did this without her! We decided to only use olive oil and then began experimenting with other oils, keeping them vegan and natural.  The gifts to family and friends were loved and appreciated so i decided to sell soaps. So now, twenty one years later, we live on my grandparents West Virginia farm and have come full circle, farming and making soaps in small batches using a cold process method with our own blend of oils, essential oils & fragrances along with some herbs and clay.  Our bars are hand cut so they may not be exact sizes.  So bear with me as I step into this new field of dreams!   Diana
